Function: The board of directors will supervise the management of the business affairs of the administrative authority for the administration of the Act and corresponding regulations.
Membership: The composition of the board of directors and the selection process of the members other than ministerial appointees shall be set out in the by-laws of the administrative authority, which are to be provided to the Minister for review. The Minister's prior agreement to make changes to the by-laws, respecting composition and the selection process, must be obtained. The Minister may appoint one or more members, as long as such members do not constitute a majority of the board.
Term: The term of office of its members other than ministerial appointees shall be set out in the by-laws of the administrative authority, which are provided to the Minister for review. The Minister sets the term of appointment for each person that the Minister appoints.
Meetings: The board meets as required. The board members appointed by the Minister shall be paid by the administrative authority in an amount and on a basis that is equivalent to all other members of the board, unless otherwise agreed to by the board member and the Minister.
Requirements: The by-laws of the administrative authority governing the composition of the board will provide representation of the industries regulated under the Act. Members may include representatives of consumer groups, business, government organizations or such other interests as the Minister determines.
