Function: AgriCorp administers crop insurance and market revenue programs to provide farmers with protection against weather disasters to their crops and income protection during times of low prices. Crop insurance is available to Ontario farmers to protect more than 50 commercially grown crops against natural hazards. Agricorp administers the Crop Insurance Act and administers Market Revenue Insurance, which provides financial assistance to grains and oilseed crop producers during periods of low prices. The board of directors, consisting of all the members of AgriCorp, controls the affairs of the corporation.
Membership: The Lieutenant Governor in Council appoints not fewer than five members and designates one of the members as chair and one or more as vice-chair(s).
Term: Members serve for a term of not more than three years.
Meetings: The board of directors meets monthly.
